How to Store and Reheat Muron and Suman: Shelf Life Guide

There's nothing quite like a warm piece of muron — soft, chewy, glossy, with that smell of coconut and banana leaf rising as you unwrap it. The good news: you can get that same fresh-from-the-steamer feeling at home, even days after your order arrives.

Because we use no preservatives, how you store and reheat your muron and suman really matters. This guide covers exactly how long each product lasts, where to keep it, and the best way to warm it up again.

How to store muron and suman

At room temperature

Eating it this week? Keep the pack sealed at room temperature. Muron and Suman Malagkit last up to 10 days unopened. Cassava Suman, Ube Cassava Suman and Binagol last up to 5 days, so enjoy those first.

Chilled (in the fridge)

Want it to last longer? Keep the sealed pack in the fridge and it stays good for up to 30 days — for every product we make.

Frozen

Stocking up, or saving some for later? Put the sealed pack in the freezer and it lasts up to 12 months. It's the easiest way to always have merienda ready for unexpected guests, or a quick snack on a busy morning.

How to reheat muron and suman

You have two options. Both take just a few minutes.

Option 1: Steam (5–10 minutes)

Steaming is how we cook our muron in the first place, so it's the closest you'll get to fresh-from-the-kitchen.

1. Bring water to a boil in your steamer.
2. Take the muron or suman out of the vacuum pack.
3. Steam for 5 to 10 minutes, until warm and soft all the way through.

Option 2: Microwave (1 minute)

In a hurry? The microwave works too.

1. Take the muron or suman out of the vacuum pack.
2. Place it on a microwave-safe plate.
3. Heat on high for 1 minute.

Reheating from frozen

Thaw it first, then reheat using either method above. Don't reheat it straight from the freezer.

Our tip: warm up a Special Choco Muron and watch the dark chocolate center turn molten. Pair it with hot coffee and your merienda is complete.

Tips for pasalubong and gifting

• Going on a long trip? Choose muron or Suman Malagkit. They last up to 10 days unopened at room temperature, twice as long as our cassava-based kakanin.
• Gifting Cassava Suman, Ube Cassava Suman or Binagol? Give them within a few days, or tell your recipient to keep them chilled. These are delivered within Metro Manila only, for same-day or next-day delivery, because they're made fresh with no preservatives.
• Keep it sealed until serving. Opening the pack early cuts its shelf life short.
